Hours

Monday–Friday, 0600–1800; 8- or 10-hour shifts; 40-hour work week; clinical hours typically 0700–1600; no federally recognized holidays; no planned closures identified; base down days apply.

 

Position Overview

Licensed Clinical Social Worker supporting military beneficiaries at Intrepid Spirit Centers and related military medical facilities.

 

Position Qualifications / Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master’s degree in social work.

Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestrictive license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Association of Social Work Boards

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience: Experience in clinical social work, either through a master’s level practicum or 2 years post MSW experience, with the last 3 years, in a clinical/treatment setting

Citizenship/English Language: U.S. citizenship is required for this position. All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and government personnel. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.

 

Duties

·        Provide comprehensive social work services to various beneficiary groups, scattered over a large geographical area, arriving from and discharged to, worldwide locations.

·        Manage and coordinate continued care in dispersed locations, including remote regions of the United States and in foreign countries.

·        Conduct comprehensive psychosocial evaluations of outpatients, coordinating the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans, with specific emphasis on complex  cases that cous on high-risk individuals, to include patients who have severe psychiatric illness, substance abuse issues, neurological diseases, brain injury; patients who are physically abused or neglected, financially exploited, live alone and cannot care for self, and/or who are mentally incompetent.

·        Provide brief strategic and crisis counseling for patients and families who are in acute psychiatric distress, providing therapeutic intervention to lessen the impact of acute, chronic, and/or terminal illness or injury on the lives of patient and families.

·        Provide individual, group psychotherapy, comprehensive clinical family therapy, and aftercare planning, as indicated by the Service population, to include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

·        Provide evidence-based treatment modalities that are specific and appropriate to each

patient’s age and circumstances.

Coordinate and implements discharge plans by arranging for transition to the next level of care, in compliance with the multidisciplinary treatment plan.

Be responsible for providing orientation to stakeholders and recipients of social work services.

Formulate and conduct in-service training for complex social work services to multidisciplinary treatment teams.

Educate medical staff on the psychosocial impact of injury, discharge procedures, and

community treatment resources. As directed, provides clinical oversight to psychiatry

residents and fellows, psychology interns and residents, or social work interns and fellows, to include clinical performance of initial evaluations; safety assessments; individual, couples, family, or group therapy.

Complete training to obtain knowledge and maintain competency in the following systems:

        MHS Genesis, Dragon dictation software, and Microsoft Office programs.

        Comply with regulatory, MTF, and Joint Commission quality inspection/ peer review/ utilization management requirements, and applicable system applications.

        Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards, to include, but not limited to: timeliness, accuracy, content, and signature.

        Contractor employees shall only use DoD approved abbreviations for documentation in the patient health records. (DoDI 6025.13 and DoDM 6055.05)

        Document and close notes in MHS Genesis within three (3) business days of patient encounters.

        Respond to beneficiary messages submitted and received in the MHS Genesis secure portal systems within one (1) business day

 

Special Requirements / Skills

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
