LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE – Family Practice

SITE OF SERVICE: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), 1650 Cochrane Cir, Fort Carson, CO 80913, and other applicable locations within the MOU and ERSA.

HOURS: Monday through Friday with a 30-minute uncompensated lunch. Duty hours are an 8-hour shift between 0600–1800. On-call hours: N/A.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The LPN, Family Practice supports primary care delivery at Evans Army Community Hospital, assisting with routine clinical care for a broad patient population in a military outpatient environment. The position requires dependable clinical skills, strong patient communication, and efficient clinic workflow support.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Certificate from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN training program or completion of equivalent military training that permits sitting for the state licensure examination.

Licensure: Must maintain a current unrestricted license in the U.S. jurisdiction within which the contract worker is performing.

Certification: Basic Life Support Certification

Experience: 12 months in the last 24 months as an LPN.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.

Language: All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language.

Physical Capability: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.

DUTIES:

·        Performs inhalation treatments, fingerstick glucose testing, urine dipsticks, visual acuity testing, phlebotomy, dressing changes, and surgical instrument cleaning and packaging.

·        Screens and reviews immunization records and unit procedures to select required immunizations, dosages, and routes of administration.

·        Administers oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular immunizations.

·        Performs routine procedures such as EKGs, cultures, dressing changes, and ear irrigation.

·        Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification and initiates CPR when needed.

·        Completes assigned patient care using appropriate order and sequence of procedures.

·        Observes, identifies, and responds to patient needs, including medication and family education.

·        Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatments.

·        Recognizes urgent or emergent situations and initiates emergency interventions.

·        Documents care and patient responses in the electronic health record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
