LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE
SITE OF SERVICE:
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base (AFB), Goldsboro, NC
HOURS: Monday – Friday, 0630–1730 (9-hour shift including 1-hour uncompensated lunch; no more than 40 hours/week).
No on call or Federal Holidays
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) will provide nursing support services at Seymour Johnson AFB under a Defense Health Agency (DHA) contract. The LPN/LVN is an essential member of the medical team, ensuring quality patient care, compliance with DHA standards, and readiness to meet mission requirement.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Education: Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Program
· Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Experience: Shall have one (1) year of experience as a practical nurse within the last two (2) years.
· Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Practical Nurse in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
· U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
· English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
· Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
DUTIES:
· Provide practical nursing care in support of physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare staff.
· Perform patient screening, vital signs measurement, and documentation in accordance with DHA and facility protocols.
· Assist with examinations, treatments, and procedures as directed by licensed providers.
· Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation, including patient histories and care notes.
· Administer immunizations and medications as authorized.
· Prepare, stock, and maintain medical equipment and supplies in the work area.
· Support patient education and counseling regarding treatment plans, medications, and preventative care.
· Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and privacy standards.
· Adhere to facility policies for scheduling, attendance, and planned absences (notify supervisor at least 7 days in advance).
· Complete all required DHA and facility training modules and competency assessments.
Base Down Days:
During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
