CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT
SITE OF SERVICE:
· Fort Bliss, TX
· Full Time
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Education: Certificate
· Accreditation: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
o Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists
o Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC)
o Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)
o Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
o Formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
· Certification: Current certification as a medical assistant by ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
o American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
o American Medical Technologists (AMT)
o American Registry of Medical Assistant (ARMA)
o National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
· Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross: Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of full-time experience in the last three years as a CMA.
· U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
· English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
· Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
DUTIES:
· Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
· Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
· Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
· Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
· Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
· Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
· Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
· Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
HOURS:
· Full-time health care workers (HCWs) shall normally provide services for 40 hours per week.
· Services are required for a period of 8.5 or 9 hours (including a 30 minute or 1-hour uncompensated meal break, depending on shift length).
Base Bown Days:
During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
