LUKE is a trusted leader in government healthcare staffing, having employed over 15,000 professionals and supported care for millions of Americans. Our mission to deliver quality care, especially to those who serve, is now focused on the urgent need in behavioral health. Partnering with the Human Flourishing Alliance, we are bringing coaches, clinicians, chaplains, and compassionate care together to provide veterans, warfighters, and first responders with support that is personal, trusted, and close to home. This model is designed to offer our heroes hope and healing and equip our federal customers with a solution they can trust, measure, and scale within their missions.
Together, we can address this crisis, restore hope, and help our heroes truly flourish.
Committed to Providing
Earlier Access
So those who serve and those who support them can receive timely behavioral health care that prevents crises and strengthens resilience before challenges escalate.
Trusted Support
By empowering chaplains and pastors who carry established trust, helping bridge the gap for heroes who may be reluctant to seek traditional behavioral health care.
Stronger Communities
That connects military families, veterans, and first responders with peers, leaders, and resources that nourish belonging and encourage whole-person well-being.
A Dedicated Alliance
Uniting churches and organizations in a shared mission to advance human flourishing for those who carry our nation’s burdens.
An Expansive Coaching Network
Where certified guides walk alongside our heroes with practical tools, hope-filled mentorship, and personalized pathways toward growth and healing.
Clinical Excellence and Compassionate Care
Integrating evidence-informed proven practices with spiritual strength to support the mind, body, and spirit of those who serve and sacrifice.
Human flourishing is recognized as a national standard for well-being and an urgent imperative for those who serve, one that goes beyond treating symptoms to nurturing the whole person. It reflects an integrated meta-model of the person that combines insights from psychology, philosophy, and the behavioral sciences.
These six domains are the foundation of the Global Flourishing Study, the largest international research project ever undertaken on well-being.
“Having served alongside Soldiers for nearly five decades, I’ve seen the strength and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes up close. We must continue caring for those who’ve carried our nation, helping them flourish in body, mind, and spirit. That is the work before us.”
— Major General (Ret.) Thomas Solhjem, Former Chief of Chaplains, U.S. Army
The
Challenge
Our nation’s heroes face operational stress, trauma, and the difficulties of reintegration. Many do not seek behavioral health care because of stigma, privacy concerns, or fear of career impact. These heroes operate in high-stress, high-responsibility environments where sustained exposure to trauma, frequent relocations, and intense operational demands erode resilience and compromise mission readiness. A weakened connection to meaning and purpose undermines resilience, jeopardizing not only individual health but also unit cohesion, family stability, and long-term operational performance.
Veteran Suicide
An average of 17 Veteran suicides per day in 2022, 523 service members lost to suicide in 2023, and more law enforcement officers and firefighters dying from suicide than in the line of duty.
Seeking Support Systems
45% express a desire to access support outside of the standard system by seeking services that honor their values, personal convictions, and often their faith.
Treatment Hesitancy
Nearly 90% of service members report reluctance to engage with traditional clinical care due to stigma, privacy concerns, and cultural disconnect.
Human Flourishing
as a Solution
While willingness to seek care remains a challenge, availability is an equally urgent issue as provider shortages limit timely support. Human Flourishing Coaches help bridge this gap with proactive, scalable, and trusted pathways to care. Quickly trained and easily integrated into care teams, these coaches build resilience and reduce the need for higher levels of care. Grounded in trust – whether faith-based, value-driven, or community-rooted – this approach meets people where they are, offering private, stigma-free support that encourages early help-seeking. It complements LUKE’s federal healthcare programs by promoting early engagement and stronger outcomes for those who serve.

Partnerships for Impact
LUKE is a founding partner of the Human Flourishing Alliance, alongside the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), expanding access to Human Flourishing Coaches who meet people where they are with faith-based, evidence-informed care. Guided by the HERO Council – Human Flourishing, Excellence, Resilience, and Oversight – this initiative unites nationally recognized clinicians, academics, and ministry leaders to uphold the highest standards of care. Through Light University, AACC’s training platform, churches, ministries, and community members can learn more and become certified Human Flourishing Coaches.
We invite organizations and individuals nationwide to join this effort. Visit the Human Flourishing Alliance website to learn more and get involved.
