Hours

MGMC: full-time clinical services not to exceed 80 hours per two-week period; standard weekly scheduling consists of two 8-hour daytime shifts and one 24-hour in-house Labor & Delivery call shift; 24-hour shift runs from 0700 to 0700 the following day at ATAMMC, with possible split into two 12-hour shifts; post-call back-up/on-call status for 24 hours immediately following the in-house shift; schedule provided one month in advance; overtime is not authorized; Government may modify shift hours or locations with five days’ notice.

Position Overview

The physician supporting MGMC provides obstetrics and gynecology care for military beneficiaries and also supports the Women’s Health Clinic leadership structure. The position combines direct clinical care, surgical and delivery coverage, and medical direction responsibilities within a federal military health system.

Position Qualifications / Requirements

Education:

·        Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)

·        Graduated from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body; graduates of foreign medical schools practicing in the U.S. must possess both a medical license and certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or Fifth Pathway; completion of undergraduate education, medical school, internship, and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Licensure:

·        Must possess a valid unrestricted medical license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States

·        Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number.

 

Certification:

·        Basic Life Support (BLS)

·        Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

·        Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

·        completion of AWHONN

·        ECO training (Emergencies in Clinical Obstetrics (ECO) hands-on course created by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)) is required

Board Certification: Must be board eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and maintain professional credentials in accordance with applicable regulations.

Experience: Actively practicing in inpatient/outpatient, full spectrum OB/GYN for at least 3 of the past 4 years.

Duties

·        Provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care in outpatient clinics and surgery.

·        Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages the full spectrum of obstetric and gynecologic conditions across the continuum of care.

·        Performs inpatient and outpatient gynecologic procedures and surgeries, including operative management of benign gynecologic conditions.

·        Provides gynecologic surgical services in the operating room, including preoperative evaluation, operative care, and postoperative management.

·        Delivers inpatient obstetric care on Labor and Delivery, including management of normal and high-risk pregnancies, labor induction, labor management, and postpartum care.

·        Performs vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries, and cesarean deliveries as clinically indicated.

·        Provides in-house Labor and Delivery call coverage and evaluates obstetric and gynecologic consultations from the Emergency Department and inpatient services.

·        Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and documents patient encounters, procedures, and clinical decision-making in the electronic medical record.

·        Supervises resident physicians, medical students, and physician assistant students; provides bedside teaching, procedural instruction, case review, and feedback.

·        Supervises and provides clinical oversight to nurse practitioners assigned to the MGMC Women’s Health Clinic.

·        Executes responsibilities as Women’s Health Clinic Medical Director, including reviewing provider credentials, ensuring adherence to clinical practice standards, and representing the clinic at executive committee meetings.

Base Down Days

The MTF observes installation training holidays and base down days. The contractor shall not be required to work on these days and will not receive additional compensation.

 

Citizenship/English Language/Physical Capability: U.S. citizenship is required for this position. All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and government personnel. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
