Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC, under the Physical Therapy Service Line and its outlying clinics including Womack Outpatient PT Clinic, Byars PT Clinic, Robinson PT Clinic, Clark PT Clinic, and Fayetteville Rehabilitation Clinic; inpatient ward at Womack Army Medical Center.

Hours

Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants shall work one of the following shifts, Monday through Friday: 0630-1530 or 0730-1630. Scheduled hours include a 30- to 60-minute unpaid lunch break. Contractors will not provide services in excess of 40 hours per week. Outpatient clinics are closed on federally recognized holidays, and the MTF also observes training holidays and base down days.

Position Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant supporting Womack Army Medical Center and its outlying clinics helps deliver rehabilitation care to active-duty service members, dependents, and other beneficiaries. This mission-driven federal contract role works in a collaborative military treatment facility setting with a broad mix of outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation needs.

Position Qualifications / Requirements

Education: Associate degree; graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapy assistant or current certification as a physical therapy assistant/technician as determined by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Duties

·        Carries out corrective exercise and treatment programs for assigned patients under the direction of the physical therapist.

·        Administers supervised treatments such as exercise, gait training, massage, whirlpool, hot packs, diathermy, ultrasound, paraffin, ice packs, and traction.

·        Instructs patients on the proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices.

·        Observes patients during treatment, compiles and evaluates response data, and reports progress orally and in writing to the physical therapist.

·        Fits, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.

·        Confers with physical therapy staff and other health team members to exchange patient information and coordinate treatment programs.

·        Coordinates with other departments and clinic staff to provide complete care to patients.

·        Documents treatment and patient progress in the patient chart and automated systems, including EHR documentation.

Citizenship/English Language/Physical Capability: U.S. citizenship is required for this position. All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and government personnel. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.

Special Requirements / Skills

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Base Down Days

The MTF observes installation training holidays and base down days. The contractor shall not be required to work on these days and will not receive additional compensation.
