Otolaryngology (ENT) Technician
SITE SERVICE: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), 1650 Cochrane Cir, Fort Carson, CO 80913, and other applicable locations within the MOU and ERSA.
HOURS: Monday through Friday with a 30-minute uncompensated lunch. Duty hours are an 8-hour shift between 0730–1630. On-call hours: N/A.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Otolaryngology (ENT) Technician supports ENT surgical and clinic operations at Evans Army Community Hospital. This role combines procedural assistance, patient preparation, and equipment handling in a specialty clinic environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED; completion of a surgical technologist program recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
Experience: At least 12 months of experience within the last 36 months as a surgical services technician.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.
Language: All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language.
Physical Capability: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.
DUTIES:
· Performs as a scrub assistant to the surgeon in major and minor ENT surgery and procedures.
· Occasionally performs as first surgical assistant.
· Performs point-of-use cleaning for contaminated instruments.
· Labels and delivers specimens to pathology.
· Checks operating room setup for supplies and instruments.
· Performs routine safety checks and preventive maintenance on equipment and fixtures.
· Prepares and administers routine medications under supervision.
· Assists with recovery room or basic nursing duties and postoperative orders.
· Records vital signs, medications, and routine clinical intake documentation.
· Performs high level disinfection of laryngoscopes and follows manufacturer instructions for use.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
