Emergency Medical Technician

SITE OF SERVICE: Evans Army Community Hospital (EACH), 1650 Cochrane Cir, Fort Carson, CO 80913, and other applicable locations within the MOU and ERSA.

HOURS: Monday through Friday with a 30-60-minute uncompensated lunch. Duty hours are an 8-hour shift between 0700–1600. On-call hours: N/A.

POSITION OVERVIEWS: The Emergency Medical Technician supports mission readiness and patient transport functions in the neurology department at Evans Army Community Hospital. This position requires strong prehospital care skills and the ability to respond rapidly in an ambulance and transport environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Certificate from an accredited NREMT program.

Licensure: Must maintain a current unrestricted license in the U.S. jurisdiction within which the contract worker is performing, if applicable.

Certification: Advanced Life Support (ALS); maintain a national certification such as NREMT or NRP from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as an EMT, NREMT, or NRP.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.

Language: All contractor personnel must demonstrate professional proficiency in the English language.

Physical Capability: This position requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods; lift and move patients or equipment as required by the clinical setting; and perform the physical demands inherent to the specialty.

DUTIES:

·        Provides a full range of EMT services within the MTF and supported geographical area.

·        Maintains proficiency in ambulance radio equipment and operates it as required.

·        Provides patient care during transport consistent with equipment, certification, training, and experience.

·        Controls and properly disposes of medical waste incurred during transport.

·        Restocks, cleans, disinfects, and checks ambulance equipment and supplies.

·        Documents all treatment provided during patient transport.

·        Stabilizes patients according to ALS and EMS protocols.

·        Lifts, places, and delivers patients to receiving destinations for medical care.

·        Applies monitors, administers needles, IVs, oxygen, or dressings as appropriate.

·        Redresses patient wounds and transports patient records or belongings as needed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
