REGISTERED NURSE – URGENT CARE

 

SITE OF SERVICE

Department of Homeland Security Headquarters (DHS), St. Elizabeths Campus, 1790 Ash St SE, Washington, DC 20032. The DHS Workforce Care Clinic at St. Elizabeth’s is located in the United States Coast Guard Munro Building, Lower Level 2 (LL2), Room 2J14-01.

 

HOURS

Services are provided during normal operating hours, generally Monday through Friday between 0800-1630 Eastern Time. No services are required on federal holidays unless specially authorized in advance by DHS.

 

OVERVIEW

The Registered Nurse supporting the DHS Headquarters Workforce Care Clinic provides essential occupational health and urgent care support for DHS federal personnel and eligible mission partners at St. Elizabeths. This onsite role helps sustain workforce health, medical readiness, and continuity of operations in a mission-focused federal clinic environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory where services are performed.

Certification:

·        Basic Life Support (BLS) required

·        Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Experience: One year within the last two years

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, a noncitizen national of the United States, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States.

 

DUTIES

·        Provides urgent care triage, vital signs collection, patient flow management, injections, immunizations, and occupational health support.

·        Documents all clinical encounters, medications, procedures, treatments, and assessments accurately and contemporaneously in the designated health record.

·        Supports occupational health evaluations and surveillance, including periodic and pre-placement exams and medical surveillance activities.

·        Assists with travel medicine consultations, counseling, and immunization administration.

·        Supports fitness-for-duty related assessments, return-to-work evaluations, and medical clearance workflows.

·        Maintains compliant documentation, records, and clinical support activities in accordance with DHS policy and clinic procedures.

·        Supports mission-aligned clinic operations during normal clinic hours to ensure continuity of care.

·        Coordinates with the Contractor’s management structure to maintain coverage and meet performance standards.

·        Participates in annual clinical competency assessments and maintains licensure and certifications.

·        Supports patient care within scope of practice and under appropriate supervision.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

·        Supports occupational health and urgent care operations in a federal workplace clinic serving DHS personnel and eligible patients.

·        Makes use of government-furnished laptops, IT equipment, PPE, medical supplies, medical equipment, and health record access.

·        Must be capable of performing urgent care and occupational health support in an onsite clinical environment.

·        Must complete agency-specified training and comply with clinic policies and procedures.

·        Must maintain professional dress and appearance consistent with clinic policy and wear appropriate uniforms such as scrubs when clinically required.

 

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
