PHYSICIAN – OCCUPATIONAL & URGENT CARE

SITE OF SERVICE

Department of Homeland Security Headquarters (DHS), St. Elizabeths Campus, 1790 Ash St SE, Washington, DC 20032. The DHS Workforce Care Clinic at St. Elizabeth’s is located in the United States Coast Guard Munro Building, Lower Level 2 (LL2), Room 2J14-01.

HOURS

Services are provided during Monday through Friday between 0800-1630 Eastern Time. No services are required on federal holidays unless specially authorized in advance by DHS.

OVERVIEW

The Physician supporting the DHS Headquarters Workforce Care Clinic provides occupational medicine, urgent care, and medical oversight for a growing federal workforce at St. Elizabeths. This onsite role supports workforce health, mission readiness, and clinical continuity in a dynamic federal environment.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).

Experience: Based on clinical competency skills

Board Certification: Board certified or board eligible in Occupational Medicine (Emergency Medicine or Family may be considered)

Certification(s):

·        Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support

·        (ACLS) preferred

Licensure:

·        Active, unrestricted physician license in any U.S. state or territory where services are performed.

·        DEA number required

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, a noncitizen national of the United States, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or alien authorized to work in the United States.

DUTIES

·        Provides clinical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and urgent care support for DHS workforce patients.

·        Performs occupational health review, clearance examinations, and fitness-for-duty assessments.

·        Provides medical oversight in support of clinic operations and assists with mission-aligned clinical services.

·        Documents patient encounters, diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes accurately and contemporaneously in the designated health record.

·        Supports travel medicine consultations and immunization-related services as needed.

·        Conducts pre-employment and pre-placement examinations and evaluates fitness for duty in accordance with mission requirements.

·        Advises on occupational medicine matters within scope of practice and supports clinical decision-making.

·        Maintains compliant credentialing, licensure, DEA registration, and annual competency requirements.

·        Works onsite during clinic hours and coordinates with contractor management to ensure coverage and continuity of services.

·        Supports quality, documentation, and patient care performance standards for the clinic.

Special Requirements / Skills

·        Supports occupational medicine and urgent care services for a federal workforce clinic in a mission-critical DHS setting.

·        Requires DEA registration and an NPI number.

·        Must be capable of providing medical oversight and clinical leadership within the scope of practice.

·        Must complete agency-specified training and comply with clinic policies and procedures.

·        Must maintain professional dress and appearance consistent with clinic policy and wear appropriate uniforms such as scrubs when clinically required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
