PHYSICIAN (PRIMARY CARE/FAMILY MEDICINE)
SITE OF SERVICE:
National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) 5662 Screaming Eagle Boulevard, Fort Campbell, KY 42223
HOURS:
Monday through Friday, 8- or 10-hour shifts between 0600-1800 (typical clinical hours 0700-1600). 40 hours per week. No on-call or Federal holidays required.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Primary Care/Family Medicine Physician will provide comprehensive primary care services at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) or Intrepid Spirit Center under a Defense Health Agency (DHA) personal services contract. The physician serves on an interdisciplinary evaluation team providing treatment planning for service members and beneficiaries with mild TBI and psychological health issues. This role involves conducting initial medical intake evaluations, providing medical oversight, and coordinating long-term treatment plans with referring providers.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
• Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada, or ECFMG certification for foreign medical graduates.
• Board Certification: Board certification by American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
• Licensure: Current, valid, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. State, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Internship/Residency: Successful completion of ACGME or AOA-approved internship and residency program in primary care or family medicine.
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen required.
• Security: Must possess and maintain Tier III security investigation.
• DEA Registration: DEA registration number required if prescribing controlled substances.
DUTIES:
• Perform full range of physician services as a Primary Care/Family Physician on an interdisciplinary evaluation team.
• Provide treatment planning for service members and beneficiaries with mild TBI and psychological health issues.
• Conduct initial medical intake evaluations and provide medical oversight for beneficiaries.
• Work with referring providers at patient's hometown to coordinate long-term and follow-on treatment plans.
• Direct, perform, or assist in instruction of other health care professionals within scope of clinical privileges.
• Coordinate with care team on personnel, prioritization of projects, equipment, clinic policies, and clinical service programs connected to TBI or PH evaluation.
• Examine, diagnose, treat, or prescribe courses of treatment within scope of training, experience, and privileges.
• Provide preventive and health maintenance care including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
• Order diagnostic tests and request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources.
• Provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to clinic staff members.
• Resolve issues not covered by precedents or established policies in concert with government officials.
• Document and close notes in MHS Genesis within three (3) business days of patient encounters.
• Respond to beneficiary messages in MHS Genesis secure portal within one (1) business day.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
Must be comfortable working with complex TBI and psychological health cases in an interdisciplinary environment. Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff. Must possess knowledge of Dragon dictation software, MHS Genesis, and Microsoft Office programs. Must comply with regulatory, MTF, and Joint Commission quality inspection/peer review/utilization management requirements.
