Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Neonatologist to support our military families in Guam. The ideal candidate will provide specialized medical care to newborn infants, particularly those who are premature, critically ill, or require special medical attention. The Neonatologist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of neonatal care and support for families.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Valid medical license to practice in Guam.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in neonatology, preferably in a high-volume NICU.
  • BLS (Basis Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Provide comprehensive medical care to newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

·      Diagnose and treat conditions affecting newborns, including prematurity, birth defects, infections, and respiratory disorders.

·      Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures such as ultrasounds, blood tests, and X-rays.

·      Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient.

·      Monitor and adjust treatments as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

·      Work closely with pediatricians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.

·      Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and progress.

·      Provide consultation and support to referring physicians and other healthcare providers.

·      Communicate effectively with parents and families, providing updates on the condition and progress of their infants.

·      Offer emotional support and counseling to families during stressful times.

·      Educate parents on newborn care and any necessary follow-up treatments or procedures.

·      Participate in clinical research studies to improve neonatal care practices and outcomes.

·      Stay updated with the latest advancements in neonatology and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.

·      Provide training and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows in neonatology.

·      Conduct educational sessions and workshops on neonatal care for healthcare staff.

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
