Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

SITE OF SERVICE:

·       Fort Bliss – El Paso, TX

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

·       Education: Possess a diploma as a graduate from a nationally accredited or state approved vocational nursing program of at least nine months in duration. 

·       Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

·       Experience: Possess a minimum of one 1 year of experience within the last two years working as a full-time LVN.

·       Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a LVN in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Island.

·       U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen

·       English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.

·       Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.

Specific Tasks for Licenses Vocational Nurses (LVNs):

·       The Licensed Vocational Nurses shall perform the following functions, within the scope of accepted nursing practice. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Other duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

·       Obtain service member history and pertinent family history.

·       Administer Health Risk Appraisal questionnaire.

·       Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for service member care equipment

·       Assist in identifying service member needs and implementing the plan of care.

·       Document Care Given. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with CRC directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The HCP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the CRC to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature. 

·       Prepare service members for physical examination.

·       Carry out prescribed Physician, PA, and/or NP orders and document in service member medical records.

·       Communicate pertinent service member data to Physician, PA, and/or NP as appropriate.

·       Recognize and initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations, including initiating life saving measures in absence of Physician, PA, and/or NP.

·       Respond to telephone inquiries regarding clinic services and/or follow-up ancillary reports.

·       Assist with clinic related administrative tasks.

HOURS:

·       Shifts will be Monday through Friday.

·       Shifts will normally be 8-hours between the hours of 6:00am and 8:00pm with a 30 or 60-minute break.

·       Shifts will be set by the scheduling officer as soon as possible.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
