  • Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
  • Education: Graduate of a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited school of nursing and a graduate of an approved anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nursing Anesthetists (COA).
  • Certification: Must have and maintain one of the following:
    • Certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetist
    • Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
    • The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Additional Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Current Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
    • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • DEA registration number is required. 
  • Experience: Must have current experience (3 months or more in the past 12 months) providing epidural anesthesia (labor epidurals). Be able to close encounters within seventy-two (72) hours of the patient encounter. Must have experience in the delivery of and monitoring of all types of anesthesia utilized in the delivery of obstetrical and surgical anesthesia (general endotracheal, 57 subarachnoid block and epidural, and IV regional techniques).
  • Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse anesthetist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Island.
  • U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.
  • English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
  • Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.


  • Manage patient anesthesia experience, perform preoperative evaluations and preparations,
  • administer monitored anesthesia care, regional and general anesthesia, monitor and manage patient reactions to anesthesia and surgery, manage fluid therapy, perform and manage invasive monitoring, and perform post-operative evaluations as privileged.
  • Manage the patient's airway and pulmonary status.
  • Record all pertinent events taking place during the introduction of, maintenance of, and emergence from anesthesia.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.


  • The MTF is a 24/7 facility therefore hours of performance are as follows:
  • Shifts may include 8, 10, or 12 hours, Sunday through Saturday, and may include weekends and holidays.
  • Typical routine shifts range Monday through Friday but may change due to mission requirements to (include weekends and holidays).
  • Will be required to work on federally recognized holidays.


Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
